Narrative
HUMBOLDT CO., NV – A two-vehicle crash along the highway in southeast Humboldt County killed two people and injured one other Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on NV-140 near MM 95. This is just south of the Orgeon and Nevada state borders near Denio-Junction.
Police say that a northbound Hyundai Tuscon rear-ended an F-150 that was stopped along the shoulder. All three occupants of the F-150 had vacated their vehicle to tend to crated dogs in the rear of the pickup.
Two of the men from the F-150 were struck and killed during the auto collision. Authorities identified them as 52-year-old Kevin Austin and 61-year-old Glen Meyers.
The third occupant of the pickup truck did not sustain injuries.
Medics transported the driver of the Hyundai to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Police are investigating to determine if impairment may have been a factor in the wreck.
